listed recordings of Messiah by year
of recording date, no particular
reason, other than it seems a
logical way of charting the
different
approaches taken to the work.
And I've listed the conductor
first, since it's their vision which
allows different recordings of
Messiah to breathe and grow.
From the grand, expansive
readings in the early Twentieth
Century to the odd directions and
startling
reinterpretations being undertaken
in the Twenty-first, I'm certain
that Messiah recordings will
continue to proliferate and spread.
This section will of necessity
be continually expanding and
undergoing revision.
